Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes (over time): August updates at MetaGeek

You know what they say… the only constant is change. (This is true in life as well as in WLAN networks). While MetaGeek apps don’t quite have the clinical training needed to help you deal with life changes, they sure can help you deal with changes to your wireless network and surrounding environment.

You know what they say… the only constant is change. (This is true in life as well as in WLAN networks). While MetaGeek apps don’t quite have the clinical training needed to help you deal with life changes, they sure can help you deal with changes to your wireless network and surrounding environment.

That’s what our August app updates are all about, and they’re available for all MetaGeek Plus subscribers.

(P.S. If you don’t have MetaGeek Plus yet but want to check out these app updates, you can download inSSIDer and hop on a free trial, no credit card needed.)

inSSIDer: Single-panel Snapshots

Snapshots are like cookies friends at a party– it’s technically ok to have just one, but the really cool part comes when you have a lot of them together. inSSIDer 1.14 is all about making it easier for more Snapshots to join the party. Previously, you had to click through a couple different screens in the side panel to finally take the thing, which was a little bit of a hassle. Now, it’s all on one screen, making Snapshots a breeze.

Air Viewer: now with Snapshots

They’re finally heeeeeeere! If you know anything about Network Snapshots, you know that they’re the key to managing your network and wireless environment as it changes over time. Until this release however, inSSIDer was the only MetaGeek app that took Network Snapshots. No longer!

In Air Viewer 1.2 (iOS, Android), all you need to take a snapshot is your mobile device and your Wi-Spy Air.

Rampart: changes over time in (you guessed it) Snapshots

While inSSIDer and Air Viewer are the ways that you can take snapshots, Rampart is where you view them*, manage* them with your team, and analyze snapshots over time.

To help you understand better how your network and environment change over time from snapshot to snapshot, here’s what you’ll see in the newest release of Rampart:

  • Added delta icons and numbers to mark the change between current and previous Snapshots data
  • Added previous/next buttons when viewing snapshots in a particular Room, so you can switch back and forth to see changes.
  • Added a list of Network SSIDs to Site Session view
  • Now shows the last user to update a site (if you’re on a team)

We’re wrapping up summer here at MetaGeek, but fall is also slated to bring a slew of exciting new updates to MetaGeek apps, including Client Traffic Analysis in inSSIDer and shared device aliases across teams. Get ready!
